Greetings HyMaX,

Try this:

Function UploadFile(ByVal HostName As String, _
    ByVal UserName As String, _
    ByVal Password As String, _
    ByVal LocalFileName As String, _
    ByVal RemoteFileName As String) As Boolean

    Dim FTP As Inet

    Set FTP = New Inet
    With FTP
        .Protocol = icFTP
        .RemoteHost = HostName
        .UserName = UserName
        .Password = Password
        .Execute .URL, "Put "   LocalFileName   " "   RemoteFileName
        Do While .StillExecuting
            DoEvents
        Loop
        UploadFile = (.ResponseCode = 0)
    End With
    Set FTP = Nothing
End Function

I can't make it work... Can you put some example information for me to see how it works? Thanks

by: HyMaXPosted on 2004-06-28 at 08:21:25ID: 11416510

And another thing... I don't understand the difference between URL and RemoteHost

by: YohanShmingePosted on 2004-06-28 at 08:31:20ID: 11416632

OK, sorry about that.  URL is put together by the Inet control, its just an ftp path which includes the remotehost, which is just the name of the server.  Here is a fully working example (except the username & password are changed):

Private Sub Form_Load()
Debug.Print UploadFile("ftp.tripod.com", "username", "password", "C:\devicetable.log", "devicetable.log")
End Sub

Function UploadFile(ByVal HostName As String, _
    ByVal UserName As String, _
    ByVal Password As String, _
    ByVal LocalFileName As String, _
    ByVal RemoteFileName As String) As Boolean

    With Inet1
        .Protocol = icFTP
        .RemoteHost = HostName
        .UserName = UserName
        .Password = Password
        .Execute .URL, "Put " & LocalFileName & " " & RemoteFileName
        Do While .StillExecuting
            DoEvents
        Loop
        UploadFile = (.ResponseCode = 0)
    End With
End Function

By the way, I forgot to mention that you need to add an Inet control to your form, call it Inet1.  (Add it to your toolbar by right-clicking it and selecting components, then checking "Microsoft Internet Transfer Controls" and clicking OK)

by: HyMaXPosted on 2004-06-28 at 09:08:31ID: 11416981

Ok, I'll try it... but first I need to know how to put his file inside a  folder of the server. I can't put it the root. I need to put it inside the 'files' folder. Thanks again and again! :)

by: YohanShmingePosted on 2004-06-28 at 09:21:51ID: 11417128

To put the file into a folder, just change the RemoteFileName from "filename.ext" to "files/filename.ext"

by: HyMaXPosted on 2004-06-28 at 09:55:08ID: 11417532

Ok! But it doesn't work... It returns no errors, but the files are not being uploaded. What may be happening?

by: HyMaXPosted on 2004-06-28 at 09:56:43ID: 11417561

Oh and yes, I'm using the code exactly the way it is:

Function UploadFile(ByVal HostName As String, _
    ByVal UserName As String, _
    ByVal Password As String, _
    ByVal LocalFileName As String, _
    ByVal RemoteFileName As String) As Boolean

    With Inet1
        .Protocol = icFTP
        .RemoteHost = HostName
        .UserName = UserName
        .Password = Password
        .Execute .URL, "Put " & LocalFileName & " " & RemoteFileName
        Do While .StillExecuting
            DoEvents
        Loop
        UploadFile = (.ResponseCode = 0)
    End With
End Function

Private Sub Form_Load()

Debug.Print UploadFile("ftp.xx.xxx", "user", "password", "C:\file.txt", "files\file.txt")

End Sub

by: YohanShmingePosted on 2004-06-28 at 10:24:15ID: 11417925

Yea, that same thing happened to me.  You need to change the backslash in your destination path to a forward slash, like this:

Before: "files\file.txt"
After: "files/file.txt"

by: HyMaXPosted on 2004-08-09 at 14:47:32ID: 11757575

Still no good...

by: YohanShmingePosted on 2004-08-09 at 15:11:19ID: 11757746

Hmm... it worked for me...  Are you sure the FTP server is functioning properly?  And are you sure you changed the slash?

by: HyMaXPosted on 2004-08-10 at 09:28:33ID: 11764682

Yes I'm sure! I checked the code a thousand times, but no good. The files are just not being uploaded...
