The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

My Filter Project, Need Suggestions

Asked by egl1044 in Visual Basic Programming

OK. I have been working on a project for a couple days now I got the code layout finished and everything works great. However I have an issue.

My program monitors drives for images that are saved to the hard disks, once the images are saved to the hard disk it goes through a scanning process. The scanning process will determine if the image is explicit content ...yes *prono*. When it finds the explicit image it will delete it from the system immediatley. This might change when the actual design layout is in effect as for additonal filter options..send to recycle bin, overwrite,log,etc.. The actuall average of a correct detection is about 90% so It is actually working pretty decent. The only problem I have is the scanning process although this process only takes at max 1-5 seconds to complete and determine the image type. The problem I have is my scanning process uses 100% CPU for this 1-5 seconds. Now I know how to get it down to run alot smoother but the problem is that I can't use doevents or sleep because this slows the scanning process down so much it takes over 30 seconds to complete 1 image.  This is just not reasonable. I just posted this question in hopes of some expert opinions, maybe you have some other ideas for a workaround. This is almost exactly like Mcafee Antivirus when it detects a virus. But this is detecting explicit content on images. The concept is the same.

What I am asking as your input:

Main question:
Fastest way to speed up 3 For Next loops and array of 1000 values  simutaneosly *only part of scan proccess*

Input for anyone who has an opinion:
* If you have any suggestions for other features like filter options please advise. Simple 1 line description will be fine.
* Just fire your opinions away * listening *

Any advice appreciated. -egl
