The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Big problems with MsgBox

This might sound a bit weird. I created a program that is periodically updated. But on the first update, an error occurred: Subscript out of range. What is supposed to happen is a message box should inform the user an update is available. But instead, the error occurs, then the informative message box appears, and then my program closes.

I went home unsatisfied and tried putting a little ' in front of the msgbox, converting it to a comment. I created the exe, and everything worked well - accept there was no informative message box. Next, I put a blank message box at the top of my code - right under the Private Sub Form_Load() - followed by the ol' endProgram function. I tried starting the program within VB and the blank message box appeared without trouble, but when I created a new exe, the same problem occurred as before - subscript out of range.

So I created a new exe and I put a msgbox call in the Private Sub Form_Load(). I created the exe and it worked fine. Furthermore, the very first version of this software (the test version) did not have this problem. I don't know why it happened, because it worked when I first tested it. I have always trusted msgbox, and I can’t imagine what is going on, or how to fix it. Thanks.Start Free Trial
