Rmdir can't delete empty folder

Hi Experts,

I have an Uninstall.xls routine for my xla which is doing everything I need except for the last bit and that is deleting the containing folder that housed my app on install. The variable "rootpath" used below is obtained from the registry and successfully used elsewhere in the procedure to delete all of the other files in the folder before the last 3 steps here (the first two of which work):

1) Delete the Uninstall.xls (this is the active file where this code is housed)
2) Delete a sub folder in the rootpath (after 1st deleting any files earlier - but not shown here)
3) And lastly, I attempt to delete the rootpath folder itself which is in the form "C:\myfolder"

Yet this last step does not complete though the preceding code leaves the folder "empty" as seen in Windows Explorer. When viewing the folder in a cmd prompt, though, while it reports "0" files, it also shows 2 <DIR> entries named "." and ".." respectively. It's been a long time since my DOS days - is this something that would stop the RmDir from working? Else, what do I need to do to clear this last empty folder?
