problem with dates wen saving an xls file to csv using a vbscript

Hi

I have a vbscript which opens an xls file and saves it as a csv. I can do this fine but the problem i am having is that the dates in the xls file eg "29/08/2005" are being converted to "8/29/2005".
the line i am using in my vbscript to save as csv is ...
objExcel.ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs filePath & finalFilename & ".csv", 6
But when i save the xls to csv manually this doesnt happen to the dates. Help.

An alternate to jindalankush's suggestion is....

    objExcel.ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs filePath & finalFilename & ".csv", 6

...which is your original code.

Have you opened up the csv file in NotePad and checked the values?

Note that the reason for jindalankush's code failing is it is written in Excel VBA, not VB Script.

yes i have opened the csv and that is when i notice the dates are wrong.
i have got around the problem by placing a ' before the value in the cell or by using " around the values.
But there should be a better way to do this.

The method you are using now to store dates in the correct format is what I was going to suggest.

What is the culture setting in your OS? This can be found by going to Control Panel > Regional And Language Options and checking the number/date formats.

I got around the problem by placing a ' before the date value in the cell or by using " around the values.
