Question

"my.Computer.Network.DownloadFile()" freezes my application!!

I'm on the development of an application where the user will download a series of files from a list generated by an xml... like a "sincronization".

The process is on a loop, on each loop a file is downloaded and an increasing variable is sent to a progressbar to "watch the progress". The download of the file is from a HTTP server (IIS)

The problem here is that I'm using "My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile" (UI = False) to download the file and this freezes my application! (Which happens to be a real chaos 'cause the User Interface is one of the main objectives of the project)

I've Googled it and found some things made with "WinInet APIs" but, even when I've added the "Microsoft HTML Object Library", my objects are still "undeclared"

Is there any way to download a file from a http server other than "My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile"? I can create a Shared Folder but I don't know if this would be useful.

Umm... I 've already checked all IE configurations, proxy discovery, etc. Everything is all right. I'm working over an ethernet network.

The thing here is that the system hangs while it's downloading the file. The files are 5-10mb long and they are 20-25 files per synchronization.

Thanks for the advice but windows and IE are working all right.

Any other idea?
