Does VB6 have a stream editor (like Linux does with SED)?

Hello all,

I am trying to convert a Linux shell script into VB6 and was curious if VB has any equivalent stream editor to Linux's SED?  If not, can anyone let me know of a script or scripts that'll do the following:

- Delete Lines from Files
- Change Lines in Files
- Add Lines to the Beginning/End of Files
- Add Text to the Beginning/End of Lines

If you mean can it be used to read from stdin, process, and then write to stdout, AND run as a console-app, then the answer is yes.

Thanks peetm.  I didn't realize that there was a sed version for Windows, but after your comment I Googled and found on here:

http://student.northpark.edu/pemente/sed/

Now, I just need to determine what's the Window's equivalent.  I'm running GNU sed version 4.1.2 on my Linux system, but there doesn't seem to be the same version for Windows.

I can open a new question for this if necessary, but I cannot get the Windows version of sed to edit a file inline like:

sed -i "s/apples/bananas" file.in

When I do this, nothing gets changed.  But if I redirect the output to another file, it works ok:

sed "s/apples/bananas" file.in> file.out

Any ideas?
