ctrl and properties VB.NET 2008

Hi,
in the source behind i get an error on the align statement.
textalign is not a member of 'system.windows.formscontrol'

any idea how i can solve this problem

   ctrl.Tag = LCase(ctrl.Tag)
   ctrl.Text = LCase(ctrl.Text)

TextAlign is not a generic property on all controls (only on some like Label and TextBox). You will need to ensure that your current control has the property, cast your control and then you will be able to use it.

But i can change the alignment with F4. So i must have that property

Right...you can use the TypeOf function:

For Each ctrl In Me.panTouchpad.Control                
    If TypeOf ctl Is TextBox Then
        Dim tb As TextBox = CType(ctl, TextBox)
        tb.XXX = yyy
    ElseIf TypeOf ctl Is Label Then
        Dim lbl As Label = CType(ctl, Label)
        lbl.XXX = yyy
    End If

As emoreau alluded to...when you use this:

    For Each ctrl In Me.panTouchpad.Control      

The Type of "ctrl" is the generic Control object:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.windows.forms.control.aspx

To get to properties not handled by the base Control class you need to cast it to the specific type as shown in my previous post...

You have this property on a specific control.

In your loop, ctrl is propably a plain Control (and not a TextBox or a Label).
