Question

Prevent deletion, changes in the datagrid

I use the below code in VB6 to prevent a user from entering or changing or deleting data in my datagrid.  It works well with the numerical fields, however the fields that have text, I am able to DELETE!  How and why is that happening?  I want to prevent any changes to those columns below in the code.  How can I do so?

Do you want certain columns in datagrid to be readonly or the whole datagrid to be readonly?

if you want to set the whole datagrid to readonly, you can:

set the AllowUpdate property to False.

You could lock the columns you do not want edited.
Put in the same place that you load your grid to lock the first column.

Datagrid1.columns(0).locked = true

or you could cycle through the columns to find the ones you want to lock...

I want only certain columns to be readonly

Then you just set those specific columns as locked

datagrid.columns("ColumnName").locked = true
