A quick question .. I see Silverlight, MS Charts and WPF .. all by Microsoft .. why so platforms to do charting?

Browse All TopicsI need a simple to use chart control (free trial preferably) and then free no more than around $50 that draws basic charts (ie: bars, columns and pies) when running under a 'medium trust' security policy. There are probably lots out there but what companies and products are easy to use, reputable and work well with VWD 2008 and VB.NET?
