The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

I am getting an Automation Error -2147417848(80010108) The object invoked has
disconnected from its clients.   The control application that is getting these errors is written in VB6 using DAO 3.6 and an Access 2000 database running on Win2000 SP3. The control app and the database are on the same machine but several other machines have client apps that also access this database.  We do NOT use MSCAL or add forms to the forms collection.   We have had problems with client machines accessing the database with QueryDef objects that use queries defined in Access.   We have removed some of these from our apps but some still exist.  I know that calling the same querydef from more than one app at the same time can cause problems but I am not sure if the automation error is coming from this.   This error has occurred in the field on at least two projects and I have not been able to duplicate it at my desk.   The software can run fine for 3 weeks and then have the problem two days in a row.   We can't link it to anything in particular happening.   We have error handing in at least half of our routines (All the ones that do DB access) but it is not catching this error.   This error kills our control app.  I'm not sure what to try next; any help would be appreciated.
