My support DBA has spoken with Microsoft on this and MS acknowedged that SQL SERVER 2000 sp3 does break 16-bit connectivity. Service pack 3 had some change regarding the slammer virus that affects database connectivity. Basically MS says it does not support 16-bit apps connecting to SQL SERVER 2000 starting with service pack 3. So if you want your 16-bit app to connect to SQL SERVER 2000, convert it to a 32-bit app. I plan to close this question if there are no objections.
