The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How can i handle a wsh error from a specific object?

Asked by madperk in VB Script, Exchange Email Server

Here is my situation.  Our company outsources it mail.  Recently our mail provider changed mail servers.  since the change we have had a number of issues.  authintication problems during send or recieve and simple loss of connection, server did not respond messages.  most users pop the mail while others rpc/http.   most of the time when the pop/smtp users expeince the rpc/http users do not.

I have spend time with mail support, isp support and  firewall support and no one can give me a direction on what to do with the issue.  i am leaning towords a problem with either the mail provider or isp.  I am in the process of putting a simple mail monitor script off site and on site that will send and recieve mail.

The script connects via smtp and delivers mail.  it then pauses for a moment and checks that the mail arrived using pop3. if the mail arrives it deletes the mail from the server.  it logs both the smtp and pop3 connection to log file.

i would like to put error logging in the script that can catch what happens during the smtp portion of the script. If the connection times out and the mail cannot be delivered the script will stop and write to the errorlog file.

script will be posted in the next reply.
