Deploying DFS anyway to convert the users manual mappings from UNC to DFS name space?

Asked by llarava in VB Script, Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Server

We are deploying DFS in our file servers. We have users with manual mapping to the shares on the files servers  and they're are using UNC to the share folders. Once DFS it has been deployed they're will be able to still have connection to the servers via UNC but we want them to map the shares using the DFS namespace instead of UNC.
Because the number of users and the number of manual mappings it's almost impossible to do that manually. Is there anyway script, third party, others... to convert/redirect users manual mapping on their desktips from UNC to the new DFS namespaces.

Example:
User manual mapping to a file server  G: \\server1\abc\ohr
DFS name space    G:\\domain.int\abc\ohr
