Please check given below link

http://www.activexperts.com/activmonitor/windowsmanagement/adminscripts/filesfolders/folders/
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scriptcenter/resources/qanda/oct04/hey1020.mspx

See you need to get all the file list from method than use string compare method like indexof or String.contain. if you are using higher version of .net.. This will return true or false ..

I hope this will help you .. please let me know if you will face some problem.

Thanks but I am not a scripter and dont understand what i am doing with vbs. I came here looking for someone to write the script for me ideally. Unfortunately I do not have the time to go through docs and learn this stuff.
Thanks again

Hi, you could just use this in a batch file:

@echo off
for /f "delims=" %%a in ('dir /s /b C:\temp\corp*') do echo %%a
pause

which would search c:\Temp recursively.

To seach the entire C Drive:

@echo off
for /f "delims=" %%a in ('dir /s /b C:\corp*') do echo %%a
pause

The above would only echo the found files to screen.  If you wanted to delete them replace
echo
with
del /y

Regards,

Rob.

ok this is your script function
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
objStartFolder = "C:\Scripts"

Set objFolder = objFSO.GetFolder(objStartFolder)

Set colFiles = objFolder.Files
For Each objFile in colFiles
// Your code to copre file
// If Exist
objFolder .DeleteFile("your filename")
Next

this worked for me!!! Save it into .vbs file!

'On Error Resume Next

Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

ShowSubFolders objFSO.GetFolder("C:\")

Sub ShowSubFolders(Folder)

	For Each file In Folder.Files
		Set objCurFile = objFSO.GetFile(file)
		If Instr(ucase(objCurFile.Name), UCase("corp")) Then objCurFile.Delete
	Next

    For Each Subfolder in Folder.SubFolders
        ShowSubFolders Subfolder
    Next
End Sub

Seems to delete the file(s) but i get the following error.....can i stop this error somehow?

test.vbs(11, 2) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Permission denied

Try this....it will attempt to force the deletion, and if that fails, it will let you know, then continue.

Run the script at a command prompt with
cscript DeleteFiles.vbs

Rob.

Hi Rob
that seems to also delete the files but i get this error:

C:\test.vbs(5, 2) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Permission denied

by: RobSampsonPosted on 2008-09-02 at 19:23:16ID: 22373574

Hmmm, Ok, perhaps there's an issue deleting files *while* iterating through the folder.

Try this....it will record the files from the entire tree, *then* delete them when it's finished searching.

Rob.

Please execute the below listed script...and check for each file which is listed if it will be deleted!
The scripts seems fine, i think you have a permissons problem or something similar!

Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

ShowSubFolders objFSO.GetFolder("C:\")

Sub ShowSubFolders(Folder)

	For Each file In Folder.Files
		Set objCurFile = objFSO.GetFile(file)
WScript.Echo "Current file to check is: " &objCurFile.Path
		If Instr(ucase(objCurFile.Name), UCase("corp")) Then
WScript.Echo "Now trying to delete file: " &objCurFile.Path
			objCurFile.Delete, true
		End If
	Next

    For Each Subfolder in Folder.SubFolders
        ShowSubFolders Subfolder
    Next
End Sub

OK, so the error you got would have been
Error reading C:\System Volume Information
which is the System folder.......

The script will now skip folders that it can't read....

It will only list the files to delete for now.  When you want to delete them, just uncomment this line:
      'objFSO.DeleteFile objFile.Path, True

Oh whoops!  Copy and paste error!  Please change this
      'objFSO.DeleteFile objFile.Path, True

to this
      objFSO.DeleteFile strFilePath, True

(that's line 50 in the code above).

Regards,

Rob.
