i want to write following words in registry but in coded form so that it directly can not be read.

Words are "CH-DR-@94-FR5"

which registry key type i use and how should i can write these to key value.

Also tell how to retrieve same and compare with value input by user through input box.

for more clarity... i like to add that as we do not able to read windows key saved in registry directly.. some thing same can be done .

1/ see http://vba-corner.livejournal.com/3054.html for read and wriiting to the registry
2/ normally write your settings to  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MyCompany\OurApp  
  where MyCompany & OurApp are yours to makeup though best to be logical.

3/ sounds like you want to encrypt the string in the registry. How secure does it have to be ? If user has access to your vbs code, then no point anyway.

4/ otherwise , a simple rotation cipher may be sufficient.

if the user can not access vbs code then will it work. how to use above code?

1/ you need to access this function and call it just prior to writing values to the registry.
2/ the code provided implements a simple character change cipher. tell it how many ascii values to change each character.

3/ have you got the script writing vaues to registry working ?

can we change value of ikey from 6 to any other?  what does  6 means?

if i have to compare registry value then should i need to decode it before comparing?

1/ key cna be any value you chose. it is just the offset used to mix up the text

2/ YES. thats what the script shows how to do.   take some text, encode it and write to registry.
 then get the coded text and decode it.
