The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Is it possible to create an Excel macro to combine data from 2 different sheets??

Asked by tkeiffer in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software, VB Script, Visual Basic v1.0.5.x

Hello,
I'm having difficulties figuring out how to do something.  I'm skilled in Excel but I'm not skilled in creating Macros.  I'd love to learn how to write macros but I'm not sure where to start and I need to get this data merged as soon as possible.  If someone could help me then I would very much appreciate it!!

I have data from 2 different sheets.  I'd like to combine the data from Sheet1 & Sheet2 to a merged Sheet3.  The shared lookup value in each sheet is the KB... value.  Here's the data:

Sheet1
KB123      A      A1      tag1      tag2      tag3
KB123      A      A2      tag1      tag2      tag3
KB123      B      B1      tag1      tag2      tag3
KB345      C      C1      tag1      tag2      tag3
KB345      C      C2      tag1      tag2      tag3
KB345      D      D1      tag1      tag2      tag3
KB345      E      E1      tag1      tag2      tag3

Sheet2
unique1      KB123
unique2      KB123
unique3      KB123
unique4      KB345
unique5      KB345
unique6      KB345
unique7      KB345

I'd like to combine the data so that it looks like this:

Sheet3
unique1      KB123      A      A1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique1      KB123      A      A2      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique1      KB123      B      B1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique2      KB123      A      A1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique2      KB123      A      A2      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique2      KB123      B      B1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique3      KB123      A      A1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique3      KB123      A      A2      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique3      KB123      B      B1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique4      KB345      C      C1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique4      KB345      C      C2      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique4      KB345      D      D1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique4      KB345      E      E1      tag1      tag2      tag3
unique5      KB345      C      C1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique5      KB345      C      C2      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique5      KB345      D      D1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique5      KB345      E      E1      tag1      tag2      tag3
unique6      KB345      C      C1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique6      KB345      C      C2      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique6      KB345      D      D1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique6      KB345      E      E1      tag1      tag2      tag3
unique7      KB345      C      C1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique7      KB345      C      C2      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique7      KB345      D      D1      tag1      tag1      tag3
unique7      KB345      E      E1      tag1      tag2      tag3

Is there a way to do this using a macro?  I've been thinking and thinking about this and I can't figure out how to do it using a Vlookup or something like that.  Could anyone help me????
