Could be firewall issue?
Make sure C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe is in the exceptions list.
Also, what error are you receiving?

Hi wayneg12345,

I think first thing to try is ping Google in your command prompt. Get the IP address of Google website. Then type that IP address into web browser and see if you can access it. If you can it is DNS problem. If you still cant try to reset your router.

Do you have any firewall or antivirus installed on your PC? Check the setting.

It can be a virus. Run a full system scan. If you dont have any anticirus try this one.

Best free antivirus.

If still no luck, try a system restore.

Good luck.

wayneg12345--Are you using AVG software?  If so, look here
http://www.avg.com/faq  and search for 1561.

If you have not changed anything, it may be worth contacting your ISP and reporting the problem to them.
If you could perhaps try another computer on your LAN, it would help narrow down the issue.

Please check your event log for any clues, you could also do a system restore to a date that the system was working to narrow it down further (this will not delete your saved data, only system settings)

It may be worth running 'msconfig' and disabling all non-microsoft services and startup options to see if there is anything stopping you browse.

Good luck

jcimarron,

You have hit the "nail-on-the-head".  Before even reading your comment, I disabled AVG for testing
purposes and that solved the internet access issue.  I then called AVG and they told me about the current problem after an update.

Although I did find this answer before reading your responce, I am very impressed with your quick responce and correct answer.  I am awarding you the points for this question of mine.

Thanks again to all!!
Wayne

I tried going to AVG and searched for 1561 but nothing came up.  Can you tell me what it says?

by: wayneg12345Posted on 2009-03-27 at 07:16:11ID: 24001113

I wish I could help you find the 1561 article, but I too have went to AVG and can no longer find it.
And it has been long enough that I can't remember what it said.
Sorry.

by: jcimarronPosted on 2009-03-27 at 11:41:13ID: 24004145

AVG dropped  kb1561 article--probably because enough time had passed and every one would have by now installed the more recent updates which do not have the problem.  That basically was the gist of the article--install the latest update.
