Creating a New Recording a DAO Database from a form

I want to add a new record to a DAO recordset by entering info in a form. The form is based on the DAO recordset. Should I create the record first (using .AddNew and .Update), then open the form? Or open the form, allow the operator to enter the data, then use .AddNew and .Update?  Kind of like the old question "Which comes first: the chicken or the egg?".

I don't use ACCESS/VBA a lot. I failed to think of a form's ability to add a new record and save it. A "new guy" mistake. Thanks. I used your suggestion and (obviously), it was successful.  Thanks.
