Looks like its a variation on this.

Try using the free scan at www.antivirus.com to fix the problem if you dont have antivirus software.

From http://download2.avp-de.com/avpfiles/databases/up030829.txt
It seems that AVP knows "TrojanDownloader.Win32.Femad.b", so you can try their virus scanner ( http://www.kaspersky.com/ ).

Other than that, I always use the online scanner that spark99 is talking about. According to my bookmark it is located exactly at: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

(his link is ok too, 1 page click)

If i were you i'd first of all check all your running processes (ctrl+alt+del) and close any suspicious looking programs. Next i would check all the run locations:

Start Menu -Startup (Do this through taskbar)
Win.ini (look for a run command)
Autoexec.bat
Registry (Get help if you dont know how to use it and make a backup too):
-- The run and runservices parts located under HKLM--SOFTWARE--WINDOWS--Microsoft--Currentversion (That should be right). look for keys pointing to a particular file you dont recognise and remove this key.

Then i would update my virus scanner and install a firewall such as zone alarm personal which can be acquired for free.

It is important to try and find as much info as possible to the virus. I, like you, could not find a reference to it. But any way try myy tips but with caution because if you corrupt the files and you dont know what you are doing Windows may not be able to start.

Oh also i would get ADAWARE for free too because this can remove spy programs that may be running on your computer. For all these programs i have mentioned do a search using google. They are all known and respected.

Goodluck

Hi again,

This is the exact registry path that you should look into:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Delete any keys that are strange. Also follow the file path and delete the program. Remember always to do a backup of the registry before editing. I also forgot to say in case you did not know but the registry can be located under the windows directory and run under regedit.exe (just type regedit in run).

Goodluck again

Hi again i have got some sites that may have some information:

www.perterzor.com
www.bontchev.com
www.virusbtn.com
 Also look at www.symantic.com

Other startup areas in which the virus may load from:

Win.ini
System.ini
Autoexec.bat
Config.sys
winstart.bat
dostart.bat

The complete list of registry startup locations. Remove programs keys that you do not wish to start on load:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runservices
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Userinit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell

HKEY_Current_User\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_Current_User\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Once again i emphasise updating your scanner and getting a firewall from one of these sites:

www.zonelabs.com - Zone Alarm
www.networkICE.com - Black Ice Defender

You may also wish to get a security scanner from

www.finjan.com - Surfing Shield.
