Biometrics (finger print recognition)

hello everyone

i want to make a software which recognizes finger prints. Finger Prints are given to software as 16 colour bmp file(thats what i thinks may you know a better way)

Basically  it's called Biometrics which includes finger,hand,foot,facial and eye recognition.

Initially i am starting with finger print recognition.

So any ebook link or tutorial on how and from  where i begin is  Appreciated.

This is a HUGE question and would be almost impossible to answer here on EE.  However, you could buy an ActiveX control to do it for you (eg. http://www.biometrics.co.za/sol_BioTools.htm).

Duplicate accounts

But i am new to Biometrics initially i am looking to understand and explore "finger print recognition".
