Is there a way to get rid of voice and save background sound

Hi There,
I'm extremely new to audio and video editing using Sony Vegas Pro 8. I've just recorded a piece of sound which has a background sound as well as someone speaking over the top. It's from a short intro to a website. The background music starts at normal volume then they've turned the volume down and the guy starts speaking then when he's finished the sound is turned back up. I want to delete the guys voice but keep the background sound. Is this possible and if so, can you explain exactly how to do it in beginners english.

it's not really possible. Only way is to remove the voice with an EQ, but this also removes any sound with the same frequency characteristics.
In other words, you ruin the 'background' noise.

In short: sorry, not possible.
