I am new to audio file technology. I do consulting by phone and I have a Sony digital recorder which came with an editor called Digital Voice Editor. Usually I download into this, convert it to an MP3 file, and send it as an attachment to my client. The file is usually around 5MB. and sends okay.
However, a consultation I did yesterday had a weird noise at the end of it so I decided to try to edit it out, something I've never done before. I used a program called Audacity, cut the end of the file, and, according to Audacity's instructions, exported it to my desktop using lame_enc.dll. But when I went to attach it to the e-mail for my client, it had somehow become 43MB! Why did this happen and what can I do?
