The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Flash Player Output Capture in C/C++ code

Asked by HobbitHouse in Video Editing, Macromedia Flash, General Multi-Media Software

I have a Windows executable (currently written in realBASIC but being rewritten in C++) that feeds into a recent Flash player (ver 8) information about 4 media files; two video files, one JPEG, and one MP3.  The player successfully plays the two videos successively with a cross-fade between them, playing the MP3 sound all the while and then putting up the JPEG file.  For reasons too long to go into here, doing anything other than feeding these into a Flash player is not an option.

My PROBLEM is that I need C or C++ code (not C#) to embed in the exising program (the one that gets Flash to play what I want) such that the code will cause the capture of the streamed presentation that comes out of the Flash player and put it into a single file that I can then send to someone. I don't care whether the capture is to an AVI file or an MPEG file or what as long as it's something that can be played in an easily obtainable player such as Flash.  My problem is that I don't know how to hook some C/C++ code into the Flash player in a way that will capture its output

Can this be done and if so how?  That is, are there hooks in the Flash player that are accessible to a user-written program that can capture the Flash player's output?

Thanks
