Id like to edit some video files with Premiere and After Effects, so I was just doing some tests with simple importing and exporting. I find when I import an AVI, do absolutely nothing to edit it, and export it back out as an AVI (Using either AE or Pr) it plays much darker that the original. I am using VLC player, all my codecs and drivers are up to date.
When I open up the 'darker' file back into Premier or After Effects, it looks totally fine.
This also happens with Photoshop. If i load up a jpeg, play around with it and then save it. The saved file looks much darker than it looks in PS itself. Again when I load the saved file back into PS, the colours are all normal.
I noticed when I loaded both the original and and darker file into Premier, the Hz rate and FPS were halved for the darker file
I just tried exporting as a .mov and it looks fine so..who knows
