FLV to DVD Video Conversion Using eRightSoft Super

Can someone explain how to use eRightSoft's Super Video Converter software to convert FLV flash files to a suitable DVD format, eg., what settings should I use?

I will be burning the converted files to a DVD and playing them on a battery powered Coby TF-DVD7107 Portable DVD player.

I use mpeg 1 and a video scale of 320 by 240 for a better quality  the frame rate of an actual DVD mpeg  is 720x576
Super will automatically set the audio for you and the other bits based apon the output container
But your Nero Vision or DVD authoring tool will automatically adjust the video scale as well.
DVD contents are mpeg authored to Vobs.

You can also use VLC to vonvert the flash to mpeg1
Here's how I do it
FLV also converts flash to mpeg quickly
Open VLC go to FILE then Wizard
If you wish to convert a flash to mpeg1
select Transcode / save to file
Next
Choose and browse to flash file lets call it Video then>Next
Click on Transcode Video and select mpeg1
Trans code Audio and select  MP3
Next
Encapsulation format> mpeg1
Next
Additional Transcode
Here what I do to save the file in the same folder as the flash files select the CHOOSE then navigate to the folder of flash but then rename your current job The name of this flash file but add in .mpeg
Video-mpeg save and then hit finish
it will now convert it.
A 25 meg flash takes approx 10 secs to convert to mpeg
---------------
By the way if the file is really small consider burning a VCD ( video CD) CD-r
 instead of a 4.7 gig DVD-r
If you need more details let me know
Cheers
Hi again WizeOwl,  you may need ffdshow if you don't already have it installed

Thanks again Merete for your input.

What should the Output Container and Output Video Codec be for SUPER?

Is it standard for a 25 MB FLV file to convert to a 220 MB mpeg file?

How would you compare VLC to SUPER? It seems you have a preference for VLC, why? Are there other details about settings for SUPER I might need to know? Audio/Video Bitrate, Aspect Ratio, Audio Sampling Frequency? When would you want to use a Frame/Sec other than 30?

Regarding your comment about authoring, "DVD contents are mpeg authored to Vobs", does the DVD burning software convert the MPEG file to VOB?

Also, why would I need ffdshow, and at what point in the process would I use it?

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDshow.htm
FFDSHOW is a DirectShow decoding filter for decompressing DivX, XviD, H.264, FLV1, WMV, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, MPEG-4 movies. It uses libavcodec from ffmpeg project for video decompression, postprocessing code from mplayer to enhance visual quality of low bitrate movies, and is based on original DirectShow filter from XviD, which is GPL'ed educational implementation of MPEG4 encoder.

Also, why do you recommend MPEG1 instead of MPEG2 as the output video codec?  I found this link, but perhaps you have a better explanation... http://club.cdfreaks.com/f32/mpeg1-vs-mpeg2-95337/

and should the Output Video Container be MPG?

I'm using Nero Ultra v6.0.0.23. I don't think it has Nero Vision, but It can create VCD's and Video DVD's.

Why do you suggest 25 Frames per Second instead of 30?

Do I need ffdshow, and at what point in the process would I use it?

I'll report back when I've done the conversion and burned the DVD to see if it plays.
btw, SUPER stands for "Simplified Universal Player Encoder" and can be downloaded from here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/SUPER
I don't change any settings in the frames per sec WizeOwl
and Super sets that auto when you select mpg.
use gspot to take a look at another mpeg

Didn't I give you that link for Super ;)
ffdshow is runs automatically in the background when you play and edit convert video.
It's a codec.
If you already have enough codecs no need to use ffdshow. I just offered that to cover bases
Your Nero Ultimate 6 should have Nero Vision Express 3.
Open Nero Smart start then look on the left for Nero Vision express

Thanks again for your assistance. Regarding why I put the link to SUPER in my comment, yes, it was your link from the other post. However, this post did not refer to it, so I thought I'd put it here too for anyone who happens to read this and not the other.  Also, I use these posts as references for myself when I refer to them at later time. Once I hit the submit button, I noticed I should have left that in the comment, but alas there is no edit button...
You're wellcome and thanks WizeOwl.
Cheers
