mdi child location vs non-mdi dialog location

I want to position a non-mdi form in the exact same location as an mdi child form. When I use the location property, the non-mdi form appears at the same X location, but the Y location is less than the mdi-child form by about the top control bar height.  Is there a way to convert the location on the desk top to a location on an mdi child location?
