Is C# as useful/powerful as C++?
I'm just beginning to learn VB.NET but I have noticed that a lot of people that are more serious programmers use/prefer C#.
I was just wondering if there were some good reasons that C# is more powerful or more useful than VB.NET or if most professional developers use C++ so it is a natural way to work with .NET by using C#.
Is C# really close to C++ ( would it be fairly easy to then learn C++)
Thanks for any comments/opinions. (will split points)

Yes, Whidbey (à la Visual Studio 2005) looks like it is going to be the right starting place for Managed C++. There is going to be a confusing period no doubt while people learn Whidbey but have a mixture of legacy and up to date tutorials to work from (echoes of <iostream.h> vs <iostream> in standard C++).

C#/Java does more for you than C++.
You can do more with C++ than you can with C#/Java.
