HTTP proxy server

I would like to make an HTTP proxy server that removes banner ads and popup windows when I visit web sites. Is there source code for a sample http proxy application that allows you to analyze and modify the contents of html files?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Just a quick comment... no solution.

If you do manage to strip out the banner ads that are designed into a web page, you'll cause page shifts... and pages you visit will look awful.. and some, un-viewable or rendered not able to navigate.

Pop ups... no probs.
Hi friberg,

To add on to what nicey says, well, I've seen proxy servers that attempt to create a blank image file to replace an ad, so that there will not be any 'page shifts' :) ... e.g. http://www.naviscope.com/

Download Indy components (www.nevrona.com/indy) and there you can find some examples of how to make proxy. Anyway, I think it would be a lot of work. I suggest you to use proxomitron (proxomitron.cjb.net), or search on SourceForge web site for any OpenSource solution (www.sf.net), with keywords "proxy filter". You will find Privoxy (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ijbswa/) and others.
