how to use Active Directory and Windows Authentication

Hi,

I am working on an intranet site which is using Active Directory and windows authentication.

I have to store the personalization/customization information as well as some other details of the user in the database against corresponding user id (unique id)

how to go about it ? If anyone has knowledge about it.

Please respond.
