I highly suggest MCAD/MCSD Training Guide from QUE, it's much better than Microsoft ones, each book has a lot of examples and a very good explaninig, you can read the book to learn in step by step and prepare for teh MCSD exams, if you are still beginner in the VB.Net, try to read beginner book from Wrox publishing
for me, I'm always go to amazon to read the books review, then decide which one I buy, that's help me a lot

I forgot to mention that I bought self study from microsoft too, but it's will not help for preparing the exam or learning many from it

buy the mcsd vb.net training kit . I think this is the best books for self study.
