If you have Windows, you might be having Microsoft's VM for Java along with Internet explorer for displaying Applets :)

Hi shilpi84!
+Download J2SDK from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
+Read the tutorial here: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/
+Download Editor: I am using SciTE editor
 http://scintilla.sourceforge.net/SciTEDownload.html
I think that is enough for you to learning how to use Java programming language.
If you want to use Java to develop a big application you should use an IDE:
If you like Borland, download JBuilder http://www.borland.com/us/products/jbuilder/index.html
If you like Sun, download Sun Studio Creator http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/index.jsp
If you like Orcale, download JDeveloper http://www.oracle.com/tools/jdev_home.html
If you like Microsoft, download Visual Studio 2005 (J#) http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/
Notes that when you choose the IDE which make you follow some technologies of that company.
Microsoft JVM is different from Sun JVM.
Oracle JVM is nearly similar to Sun JVM.
In the opensource community, there are some famous IDE such as:
NetBeans http://www.netbeans.org
Eclipse http://www.eclipse.org

phuocnh, 3 of those links have been provided already - pls post only as much information that has not been posted already.
Thanks for your remind. I want to make them into a suit.
One person recommend one thing, the author may think they are alternative things.
Thank you again!
:)
Phuoc
Yeah but very often that is the way EE works - people will always recommend their own stuff in their comments but if you have the same recommendation, no use posting it again. Let the asker ask for clarification or decide :)
Hi mayankeagle!
My post is my stuff!
Please read it again!
The link to download J2SDK why  do I have to copy another one
I don't want to argue with you pricelessly.
The author will decide!
Phuoc
I was polite to you in mentioning this initially but looks like you don't want it that way. Objects had already posted the J2SDK download link so you DON'T need to post it again as though its just your comment. Please read through the comments already posted before duplicating. Post only as much as what has not been posted.
My post is also my stuff - I posted Eclipse at www.eclipse.org and I would like it if others don't repeat it again, since I have already told the asker about it. Hope you understand that.
I want to recommend a suit which consits of 3 things: J2SDK, Tutorial, Editor. If you tell me just post Editor It is not what I want to recommend.
I do want to recommend the suit but one thing, I think my idea is not similar to the above ones!
Every java programmer including me knows the link to download J2SDK and sun tutorial.
Phuoc
>> Every java programmer including me knows the link to download J2SDK and sun tutorial.

Oh well, then why did the asker ask for it? And everybody else here including objects, hoomanv, myself and others must be fools to post it.

If something (of what you want to recommend) has already been recommended, you can just mention your comment as an addition to everything else. Obviously I also had to recommend J2SDK but I didn't since objects had already posted it and it would be a duplicate.

I think this stupid argument has already generated enough e-mail alerts for other experts subscribed to this page so hereafter - please post only as much as you have to, not repeating everything else that has been posted (of course, you can say that you agree with what has already been posted by other experts to complete your opinion). I suggest you read the member agreement of EE - I believe it should contain a line that says that its no use repeating comments already posted by other experts.
jdk will be enough for Java!!
and if u want editor then u can opt for ultraedit, editplus, eclipese or search on google!!
You may download Eclipse for coding, its  a free editor from IBM.
That has also been mentioned :) folks, pls understand the fact that repeating what has already been posted is not encouraged because experts don't like it.
