The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

In fact, you should share this folder :D
But set permissions to "no access to anyone but me" ;-)

Beware that other users also have to be NOT [even local] administrators ;-)

Set the encryption checkbox in the properties. Then they can see your folder but not read it's contents.

Sounds like you may be a little confussed.  The "Sharing" option is for allowing other people on OTHER computers to access a folder.  For example in your office where you save files on the "network" this is done using the sharing feature.

What you might wish to do is either the permissions settings or encrypt.  Using the permissions settings you can prohibit others from viewing files (the admin can always override and get to the files) but using the encrypt feature only those with the password can get to the files (if you forget your password your files are all intense and purposes also gone).

To set the permissions:
1) Start Windows Explorer (Start | Run than type Explorer.exe)
2) Right mouse click on the "C:\Documents and Settings\jackfranks" folder and select Properties
3) Click on the Security tab
4) Click on the Advanced button
5) Remove everyone EXCEPT "Myself", "SYSTEM" and "Administrators".
6) Click on OK
7) Click on OK again

To encrypt the files:
WARNING: If you forget your password these files can not be recovered.
1) Start Windows Explorer (Start | Run than type Explorer.exe)
2) Right mouse click on the "C:\Documents and Settings\jackfranks" folder and select Properties
3) Click on the Advanced button
4) Place a check mark next to "Encrypt Contents into Secure Date".
5) Click the Ok Button
6) Click the OK Button again
7) At the Confirm Attribute Change Screen click the OK button a third time
8) If an error message pops up click on the Ignore All button
9) Wait for it to encrypt everything

About what you said weckert,

"What you might wish to do is either the permissions settings or encrypt.  Using the permissions settings you can prohibit others from viewing files (the admin can always override and get to the files) but using the encrypt feature only those with the password can get to the files (if you forget your password your files are all intense and purposes also gone)."

My Question: If an Admin can override, in other words, an Admin can delete another Admin's password and login to their account. This way they can still read the encrypted items because the password was cleared.

How can I give my brother full access to the pc (an admin type account) without giving him access to read my documents contents?

For more clarification, after clearing the other admin password, he can login on it and view everything.
