sending SMS from application

can i send SMS from my vb application. if anybody has done it kindly tell me.

Dear Amitabh

Some SMS service providers support SMTP. That is if you send SMTP mail to them they will send as SMS. Suppose consider number 98400 12345 with provider skycell. If you send mail to 9840012345@skycell.com it will go as SMS. If this facility is available you can send simple mail to them.

Its a good suggestion naga but i will need to know the various service providers for different mobile numbers. and thus the scope of this application would become very limited. is n't there a way that i can send SMS only by knwoing the mobile no. without caring about the provider. how do these free SMS sites work ? Any Idea ?
