Visual Basic >>> to Delphi
Hello,
I wrote a program in VB. I want to "translate" it to Delphi. Please give me links to such programs (the program works with DataEnviroment).
Thanks in advance.

RHuebner,
The code is about 350-400 KB of code (without objects). Anyway, the program is commercial, so I cannot give you the code. Also, the interface is not in English.
Aeklund,
I saw many articles, but I didn't find them useful for ME. I know both VB and Delphi. I just don't want to spend time. I want to convert VB to Delphi because EXE files of VB are easily decompiled, but EXE files of Delphi are much more difficult to cracking.

slavikn,
Are you converting because you want greater protection against decompilation or some other reason?
The best protection against hacking comes from good encryption, program wrapping, and regular checks for snooping code while your program is starting and while it is running.
Although I'm a Delphi fan, I've tried running a couple of conversion programs against small VB programs and found them lacking. With the size of your code base, I suspect that a better expenditure of your time would be in the protection of your VB code rather than a VB->Delphi converison.

JGould,
slavikn abandoned this question in July and, as such, doesn't warrant having their points returned. Others made suggestions/recommendation s and I asked a question to help clarify slavikn's needs. slavikn didn't indicate that they had pursued the links nor read my question.
It is now three month's after the most recent comment and slavikn claims that nothing in this discussion thread is useful. I don't buy it. I think there is value in this discussion and object to the deletion request.

Yes, greater protection.

I have a program which extracts the code from a compiled VB ".exe" file (for versions 4 and 5, not 6). Checks will not helps, as they may be deleted from the code.

So, as everyone can see, I asked to convert VB->Delphi, and got no answer.
Best regards,
Slavikn.

Slavikn,
I think you got good advice. If I gave you a link to two commercially available VB->Delphi conversion programs, would you spend the money to use them (knowing that they are an approximate conversion with more coding work required)?
If I put you in touch with a consulting firm that could do this translation for you, would that solve your problem?
What is your budget for this (at least three-month-old) conversion project?
Those of use who have done this conversion are answering the larger question (best expenditure of your time and money).

I would pay for something that works well (just program, without giving my code to anybody).
> If I put you in touch with a consulting firm that could do this translation for you, would that solve your problem?
This program is commercial, and I cannot give its source. If it was freeware, I wouldn't want to make it more secure, would I?

100-150 USD.

Already refunded the points on this one but something did go wrong and i had no time to complete this afternoon
since this was 100 points i'll post two questions one for aeklund and one for aikimark for thinking with slavikn
slavikn, next time go into discussion first before deleting a question especially after letting it alone for a few months we rather have you close it in a week with a refund then letting it stay open with no comment and after a while seeing *hey one open lets close it* that's not fair to the people helping you here or at least trying and giving their time
if you ask for a hand be sure to handle it correctly that will prevent any bad feelings or OT discussions
Thanks
