asked on
decompile vb6 exe
Hi Guys,
Is there a decompiler for vb6?. I need to view the source code from assignments i did in uni a few years ago.
I can see via the ee search engine, this question has been asked many times with little luck. But they are outdated, so I was hoping in 2004 I would have some luck.
Thankyou in advance

This is a legitimate question Leon, I'm asking out of neccessity.
I am not doubting you. It has not crossed that line. I am just saying to be careful.

decompiling you own code is completely legitimate and legal.
it is possible someone loses his source code.
Even asking for password cracking, as long as it is a OWN password (forgotten) is completely legal.

there is a decompiler for VB6 and if you a search you will find it.
But the problem is that the code it produces it so garbage and complecated that creating the same program from the scratch is faster!
Have you lost your own source code?

decompiler for vb4(16-bit)
runs on 16-bit windows.
If you've mixed up vb6 with vb4 it's likely you are running 32-bit windows, though.

Thought I'd pop this in here... I was looking for a decompiler online and came across this site. They are producing a vb6 decompiler called vbrb. http://www.decompiler.org/

When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you.

VB6 exe's aren't like executables from other languages like C++. It isn't really a "compiled" executable.
Sorry.
