Have any laws been broken?

I had to warranty a laptop with a major Compuer manufacturer, after the worst experiance in customer service history i was shipped a box to return the the laptop for repair. A week later the laptop was returned. I turned it on a relized that it had someone else's hard drive and data on it. Pics, docs etc.

I know when you return a computer for service there is no garentee that that thel data will remain intact, but what about your personal information being given to another person or party? I contacted the manufacturer, then didnt seem to care too much and asked that i return it. If it were my data i would beyond upset.

Is there action to take can be taken.
