Project Management Question  - PMP Exam Preparation

Asked by tmonteit in Project Management

Tags: pmp, project, questions

I'm studying for the PMP exam doing some practice quizzes when I came across this question:

Based on an approved change, the customer increased the project scope by 65%.  This increased your cost estimate fivefole.  Now you must change the scheduled start and finished dates in your approved project schedule.  Your first step would be to...

A) Rebaseline the schedule
B) Modify the contract
C) Update the schedule baseline
D)  Add resources

I picked 'A' rebaseline the schedule.  The correct answer was 'C' with no real explanation.

I don't understand how the two are different?  And Why is 'C' the correct answer?

Can I get an opinion from a PM expert?
