Browse All TopicsWe have recently got a static IP address and want to configure the server such that, the ERP Application(Navision) can be accessed in all the office brances in India.
I have installed the application server and the database server on one system which the IP address on another system within the local network.
What should I do to enable access to this ERP Application from anywhere in India?
What are the security issues to be considered here? (I want to allow only a select few users to access the system)
WIll I need to buy any further hardware or software?

If you have branch offices over seas that need to access resources on your network you should have a LAN to LAN VPN setup between the sites as this will provide the most security.
If you don't have or don't want a VPN then you need to make that server accessable from the outside (using the static IP you were assigned) and there are two ways to do that.
Put that server directly on the outside network with the static IP <- BAD idea LOW SECURITY lots of problems
Put that server inside your DNS (between your outside firewall and your inside firewall) and configure NAT on your router to forward all traffic for the staitc IP you have to your server in the DNS
