Windows Phone 7 update from 7.5 to latest
A few months ago I succeeded in updating to 7.5 without problems. Now 5 attempts at updating from 7.5 on my HTC Radar to whatever the next version is called have failed. I keep getting the error message 80180048. My PC is fully updated. My Zune sofware is version 4.8.2345.0. On the phone in Settings > About > More Info it shows OS version 8107.WM7_Main_Ship(mojobld ).20111207 -2014. Does anybody know how to solve this problem please?
8107 is the latest build.

That's a very good answer :) but why does the phone keep telling me an update is available please?
Looks like you do NOT have an official device. Could be a test or developer device.

Nope, that can't be it either although again very good suggestion. This is quite interesting. Maybe I should call O2 (mobile operator).

How can you verify that? It has happened before and would not be surprised if it was so. Please tell me what O2 responds...

OK, I'll give them a call. Monday is a holiday here. I'll call them on Tuesday. I attach a picture of what the phone is saying. I took this photo this morning.

Hi Mikal613, You were correct. I tried O2 and they gave me a HTC number to call. HTC confirmed it is either a developer device that should not have been sold or it has been cracked. I have not cracked it. Here is their email confirmation of our phone conversation:

Dear Martin,
As agreed on the phone earlier, I am sending you this email to reiterate what was said during our phonecall earlier.
As I understood it, you receive an error message when trying to update your device. The error message in question is: 80180048
Microsoft confirms, along with our own database, that this code means one of two things. Either the operating system of the device has been cracked (meaning it has been "opened" for tampering) or the device is a test/developer device.
In similar cases, the operator, which just happened to be O2, has back tracked the paper trail for the particular device and has came to the conclusion that it has been a developer device that should not have been sold. In this case, the device would have to be swapped.
If the device is to be fixed by us, we can certainly take it into our repair centre and re-install the proper operating system. This repair will be quoted though, as the device is effectively out of warranty with this error code.
If you need any more assistance, please do get back to me!
Kind regards,
Arvid,

I got back to O2. They said they accept it's still in warranty and fix it for free.
