I have to comment that CHGDDMTCPA PWDRQD(*NO) over TCP/IP is seriously _NOT_ recommended.
Hi tliotta.
I agree with your comment, but have never been able to get it to work without specifying that parameter.
If you can do it with-out specifying that parameter I would love to know how.

Hi Tliotta
thank you for the advice - it's much appreciated.

Ya that's very good information !!
Thank you !!
Most Q&A's I see here have good enough answers, so I leave them alone. But I had to stick my nose into this one. I hope it was good enough to help. Security info on DDM over TCP/IP takes some digging and experimentation, so I'm happy if it was useful.
Hi Tliotta
As you know the AS/400 is a beast of a computer (and probably the best in the world).
I am sure that I speak for every one at EE that your input would never go amiss. I personally would love you to contribute more.
If you are unable to regularly logon I will create a thread that you can subscribe to. If you give me a brief background I will then post relevant questions so that you receive an e-mail -  You can then decide if you have any comments.

The more people who contribute the better we all get.

Thanks again

Only problem would be that I never got anything else done. I check back here every once in a while, usually sometime after a newsletter arrives. I browse hot topics or new items that look interesting. Since most answers are correct enough (regardless of whether I'd answer differently), there's no reason to say anything. Often, I'd just as likely contribute to confusion by adding stuff that's not necessary.

Everybody needs to learn at some level. For example, whether it's outfiles from a command or processing list APIs in spaces, both need learning and teaching. There's no perfect criteria for determining if one is the appropriate answer over the other. From context, it usually looks as if the simpler answer is best.

But security needs extra attention.

For iSeries (or any business platform) to survive, it _must_ be secure(able) in a network. Be assured, if I happen to run across anything that _needs_ expansion, I'll speak up; and security is the most likely topic area for me at the moment, especially due to time constraints.

Note that that's only happened once or twice, so I guess things are going well enough.

OTOH, if there _are_ specific questions that can be routed, it's likely I could give more input. At the moment, it should be possible to contact me at [ **************]. We can work out details if you wish.
I remembered a detail about ADDSVRAUTE that's important... The server() parm is defined as CASE(*MIXED). That means that the 'QDDMSERVER' value must in fact be typed as upper-case. The command prompter will _not_ upper-case the value if it is not quoted.

I knew there was something odd with it, but couldn't remember at the time.
