Where an I download AS400 OLE or ODBC driver for
doing development work for VB to connect to AS400.
Is the OLE ODBC Driver suitable for all kind of AS400 server/client connection ?
I mean the AS400 client/server might be TCP/IP or other emulation connection.

This code could be entered into a VB script on a web page to access the AS/400 from the internet.
The data sourse "Data Source=AS400Name" would be the IP addrsss ie "Data Source=192.192.192.192"
you could use the IP address of your as400 in the above example.
either way you do not have to pre-define the ODBC link

PS you can alos use ADODB to call programs, execute commands etc.. I beleive it is the best way to develop VB applications that connect to the AS/400

is is part of client access.
Simply change the as400 data source, user id, and password.
Change the SQl to access a valid database
and the code shoudl work
ie if your as400 connection in client access is:
S4435549
and your userid is
HENG03
and you password is
DEVELOPER
conn.Open "Provider=IBMDA400;Data Source=S4435549;User ID=HENG03;Password=DEVELOP
the code shoudl work unchanged if you client access on your PC

Hi
yes you can use the ODBC driver for all connections. If you are using another emulator (ie rumba) that supplier will supply their own ODBC driver.
I would recommend going down the AODB route for development in VB as this does not need a ODBC connection being set up on the PC and will make it easier to transfer onto WEB pages
