I'm currently converting both the date and time fields to character using %char and then appending them together with a - in between and adding the milliseconds on the end. But it seems like there should be an easy way to just convrt to.

I believe the following line is the only way to do it [which I assume is how you are doing it]
assuming
tstamp is defined as a timestamp field
tdate is defined as a date field
ttime is define as a time field
/FREE
tstamp = %timestamp( %char( tdate : *ISO ) + "-" + %char( ttime : *ISO ) + ".000000" )
/END-FREE

Joe:
Can we assume you mean "in ILE RPG"? In any case, it doesn't seem that your described method is particularly a problem. It should be perhaps a single EVAL statement.
Can you post the relevant lines?
