The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Connecting to a as400 server from SBS2003

Asked by v-jushaw in Programming for iSeries / AS400, SBS Small Business Server, Windows 2003 Server

Tags: as400

Situation:    I'm a consultant asked to help out with a clients SBS server and basic needs they ask for on a monthly basis. The company also has a as400 server that someone remotes in to work on it, I don't do the work on the  as400 server.

Well when I first came on with the company they were in bad shape, they didnt have a firewall, anti-virus, or a spam filter on the server, it was acting as a open relay and blocked on every blacklist you could imagine. They also didn't have a backup system.

Well long story short, I configured a firewall, installed anti-virus and a spam filter for their exchange server, closed the open relay and enabled tarpitting to stop the attacks. also got backups going on the system and configured the server to a array, it was on a single drive.

everything was running smooth, but then the as400 guy used terminal services to login to the sbs, but now is unable to connect to the as400 server from the sbserver.  Clients are still able to connect to the as400, just not from the sbserver.
What port does as400 usually operate on, what port do I opn on the sbs to allow connection.

Thanks in advance
