Which WxWidgets version do I need to develop for Linux?

Hi,

Got a question re: WxWidgets GUI construction framework: I do not have experience w/ this product, but I am thinking of using it to construct an app on Linux and Windows (and later, possibly Mac).  The WxWidgets web site has two separate downloads for Linux:

1) WxWidgets for Unix/GTK+
2) WxWidgets for Unix/Motif and X11

Will an app. developed on top of the Unix/Motif/X11 version of WxWidgets work on all versions of Linux, whether KDE or Gnome?

Trolltech's Qt toolkit has only one Linux version, called Qt/X11 -- why isn't WxWidgets distributed in a similar fashion?  Why do I have to decide whether I need to develop/run on WxWidgets for Unix/GTK+ OR WxWidgets for Unix/Motif and X11.

Many thanks in advance -
