formatting a shell script output with padded spaces

I have a script to check the mail box size of people

which provides output like
user1,15M
user2,17M
usersomeone,18M

and so on

when i try to replace the "," with a \t they are not visually aligned.
user1 15M
user2 17M
usersomeone 18M

and so on

1. how do i visually align the output. say the first column to have 25 spaces and the second column to begin from the 26th character in a line.
2. is there a way that i can sort the output based on the second column value. i am more interested in finding out the maximum space occupiers coming out on top and decreasing as it proceeds down the line.
