Question

linux alias does commands out of order

I have a .bash_aliases file that contains the lines:

alias k="clear && echo ================ && pwd && echo ================ && ls -l"
alias kk="clear && echo ================ && pwd && echo ================ && ls -l | less"

"k" runs fine.  When "kk" runs, the directory list is given correctly but my pwd header doesn't print until the list has finished printing.  How do I get the screen order correct?

i think It is because the "less" command waits for your response before it can finish and only when it finishes can  the prev "pwd" gets to print  its result

The follwing on my andlinux system gave somewhat sane response

alias l="pwd;ls -lai| more"

rewrite to your taste.

You could define kk like this:

alias kk="clear && echo ================ && pwd && echo ================ && read && ls -l | less"

so you get to see the pwd before less starts.

Neither solution fully provides the answer but the more I think about it, I think I'm being overly fussy on an unimportant problem.  I don't want to leave the question open if I'm just being persnickety.  Thanks fo your efforts folks.
