Hard disk instalation of Puppy Linux on and old Compaq Presario

Tags: puppy linux, 4.00-k2.6.21.7, Compaq, Presario, 1621, no usb device
I have successfully booted Puppy Linux from the live CD by adding the code "puppy ide=nodma noapm" in the first booting menu. When I tried to install Puppy Linux on hard disk I did not have the option to add that same code anywhere, therefore the system does not boot but it gets stuck on "Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel."
I tried to manually add the code to the file "menu.lst" under /grub on the hard disk, but unsuccessfully. Any suggestion?
