Changing LCD text display on Dell PowerEdge 1950 front panel.

Hi,
I have many Dell PowerEdge 1950 servers running linux,
I know I can change the text of the LCD via the BIOS, but I would like to do it via a Linux command line utility or alike instead (I want to set the LCD display as the host name).

Any ideas?
