Browse All TopicsI am an employed expert Visual Basic programmer with a good basis in Pascal and a new large scale project in Delphi 3, all under Windows NT 4.0. Recently I have been contacted by various members of my work community to port some of the applications I have developed to the MacIntosh. I am quite familiar with the MacIntosh OS but have never before written anything for it. As I understand it, the primary programming language is C or C++. Is there a Delphi version for the Mac (I can't find a reference on the Borland web site) or is there some other VB or professional Pascal environment in common use? Is C or C++ the standard Mac language? I know very little C and am a little reluctant to take on the learning of a new language in addition to my regular duties. Your answers will be very welcome.

There are several BASIC implementations available, but none compatible with VB. I believe there may even be a freeware version.
Pascal is available from Symantec and Metrowerks, though Symantec hasn't updated in a while.
Metrowerks CodeWarrior professional is probably your best choice, providing Pascal, C/C++, and Java, for 68k, PPC, and x86 platforms.
